To my surprise, and to that of others who believe that Elvis is alive, somebody who wishes to be anonymous left a comment in this blog, that as you know, has been kept inactive (even closed) for more than two years. What has my interest and motivates me to write this note here, is that it comes from Kalamazoo, Michigan. The city where it is said Elvis took refuge after leaving Graceland forever. Skeptics can argue that it is a joke or someone with commercial interests wishing to return to promote the subject of Elvis alive. Whatever the reason of this Anonymous one from Kalamazoo, it does not stop drawing my attention. I will put the information that my meter accountant gives me of all that visit my blog. I have also to informe that I have checked with a special program that detects the true origin of emails and comments and indeed, this message came from Kalamazoo at 5.58 A.M.. Between that time and the next visitor, almost three hours had passed. Here is the message and the information of my meter accountant, just in case some *expert* decides to investigate it further. I will not, as I said I have stopped doing.
But whatever the reason that comment was left from the man from Kalamazoo, I want to wish Elvis a Happy birthday and many blessings.

¨Anonymous has left a new comment on your post " Is John Smith Elvis? It was an unusual relationship yes, where two unusual people who did not live or know a "Normal life" found a connection, perhaps with some suspect timing on his part. Nonetheless, I do believe he loved me as much as he could love anyone and I loved him very much.
I wanted to "save him" I wanted to save him from the inevitable which is what has just happened.
His family and his loved ones also wanted to save him from this as well but didn't know how and this was 14 years ago. We all worried that this would be the outcome then.
At that time, In trying to save him, I almost lost myself.
He was an incredibly dynamic force and power that was not to be underestimated.
When he used it for something good, It was the best and when he used it for something bad, It was really, REALLY bad.
Mediocrity was not a concept that would even for a second enter Michael Jackson's being or actions.
I became very ill and emotionally/ spiritually exhausted in my quest to save him from certain self-destructive behavior and from the awful vampires and leeches he would always manage to magnetize around him.
I was in over my head while trying.
I had my children to care for, I had to make a decision.
The hardest decision I have ever had to make, which was to walk away and let his fate have him, even though I desperately loved him and tried to stop or reverse it somehow.
After the Divorce, I spent a few years obsessing about him and what I could have done different, in regret.
Then I spent some angry years at the whole situation.
At some point, I truly became Indifferent, until now.
As I sit here overwhelmed with sadness, reflection and confusion at what was my biggest failure to date, watching on the news almost play by play The exact Scenario I saw happen on August 16th, 1977 happening again right now with Michael (A sight I never wanted to see again) just as he predicted, I am truly, truly gutted.
Any ill experience or words I have felt towards him in the past has just died inside of me along with him.
He was an amazing person and I am lucky to have gotten as close to him as I did and to have had the many experiences and years that we had together.
I desperately hope that he can be relieved from his pain, pressure and turmoil now.
He deserves to be free from all of that and I hope he is in a better place or will be.
I also hope that anyone else who feels they have failed to help him can be set free because he hopefully finally is.
The World is in shock but somehow he knew exactly how his fate would be played out some day more than anyone else knew, and he was right.

I really needed to say this right now, thanks for listening.
~LMP

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=42291868&blogId=497035326

Elvis. But with the only goal of throwing light on the topic of Elvis being alive, I have brought to you here the image of John Smith, and what I consider to be my truth. And I would say that I have also confirmed my suspicion that John Smith is the proper Elvis. It has not been an easy task, since with the years, John Smith had turned into a friend and the first thing is to respect his privacy.
It has been a couple of weeks, after a conversation with John in which I was shown his intentions of leaving the Internet and of resting --- due to his declining health--, I came to the conviction that this blog had already fulfilled it's task and that it is time to say good-bye to our readers here. Elvis/JohnSmiths' blog will not be erased, and unless there is an extraordinary information to communicate to you all, we will not write here again.

You can, however, keep consulting it, since here it will stay as historical inventory of the one who, under the name of John Smith, has not tired of creating with his voice, new memoirs of Elvis.
To all, thanks for having trusted in my honesty and my desire to be faithful to Elvis Presley and John Smiths' amazing talent. I wish the best and a healthy and long life for John Smith.

By Belkis Cuza Male

I have passed through all my life interviewing any kind of person, from very famous people to the guy next door whom nobody knows. I love the genre, I am interested in the life of people, to know why they act in this way or others. I love to trespass the threshold of houses and look inside their homes. I would like to know everything, that they open their hearts to me and tell me how they are, or how they imagine they are. Reconstruct their lives as if I was writing a novel, is a pleasant challenge.
In the case of John Smith, it was difficult, because although I can close my eyes and repeat by heart his answers, I needed to listen to them as though it was the first time. In order to interview John Smith I had to do three things first: I had to persuade him to answer my questionnaire, then meditate for days on the questions and promise myself I would not think about Elvis Presley while I was talking to John. None of this was easy, of course. If I hadn't had the courage and I had not insisted and had not taken advantage of the opportunities that appeared to me to reinitiate the conversation with him, where we left off the last time, you all would not be reading this interview now.
Most difficult of all, was erasing the idea from my mind that I was asking questions to Elvis. I wanted John Smith to speak as himself and not feel intimidated, or that he thought that I was setting traps for him. No, it wasn't nor will ever be my intention. These questions and answers are the result of several recent conversations, but also have been nourished with the knowledge, the affection and the friendship that is shared between John Smith and myself throughout the years. Good, the day which I began to interview him I did not need to ask the first question, because he, after the greeting, broke the ice and responded to with which we had already commented about before: "I have eaten squirrel". And sure I lay down a laugh....He was the humorous John of always, with a great sense of humor, and I knew that the atmosphere was perfect to chat with him. But I also remembered something that he had talked to me about a long time ago, a singer from the church which he attended as a child, and I insisted to hear it again which he told me: "The songs, the music, a lady, elder; a singer in the church, an old lady that was terrific."
And I also was there, in the middle of that Pentecostal church of the south and I saw him, a timid and precious boy, whispering hymns.

"A voice that would touch your soul.", he said.
"If you close your eyes you could listen to her singing?". "I can see her".
"Describe her, please", I requested to him.
"I can still picture her singing. Her voice was different than most, as if it stood out among the rest. She was overweight, but always dressed nice, and seemed sorta shy to me. When she sang was great."
"You sang in the church then?".
"When I sang in church it was under my breath."
"Were you shy?"
"Yes".
"Did you sing at home"
"I have always tried to sing, never thought I could. I aint a singer. I listened a lot of the singers in church. There was a quartet I loved to hear. I used to listen to the Louisiana Hay Ride."
"Did you start to play the guitar also then?"
"I am not too good at it. I bang on it."
"But, did you dream to have a guitar?"
"I still have a guitar".
Unexpectedly, he stops and requests me not to continue the questions.
"I really don't like to talk about my past. Those times were good memories."
I feel ashamed and I excuse myself with him, hoping he understands that it has not been my intention to touch algid points of the memory:
"No -- he says -- its just my memories of my childhood I don't like to talk about. Family is important to me. You have to understand... I miss my family too just like anybody else, you know. When uncles, aunts, etc. are all gone it hurts. Well, you become all alone. You look around: there is no one there. All the good times, the moments you cherish, you have memories. I don't want my early years exploited. There was nothing in the world that meant more to me than my momma. I think about the good times, is all I have...."
And suddenly, like frightening bad thoughts, I hear him saying to me: "And you know something? I like cheeseburgers too. It was a special thing to have them with potato Chips. You have to know how to fry them... ketchup on French fries. I do put it on hamburgers. I love bar B que. I am not an expert at anything but I do fix bar B que as good as the best. Ma'am I like ribs. I can bar B que those till they fall of the bones. Yes."
I take advantage to ask him about desserts:
"I like coconut cake. Is really good when somebody knows how to make it. Banana pudding... I like Reeses peanut butter cups."
"Ice Cream?", savoring the flavors already:"I have tried so many. I think now is between butter pecan and black walnut. You know what: have you heard of Neapolitan? I had that many years ago. Not sure you can get it now..."
We talk then about fruits:
"I have to say peaches or strawberries it is good in homemade ice cream."
"Do you like spiced meals, like Mexican?"
"Yes. it usually kills me but I like it."
And I do not know how we changed to the subject of music, but of the most prosaic way, if it is wanted, because I ask him if he sings in the shower, and why people usually do it."
"Is the sound in the bathroom that inspire people to sing."
"The water?", I ask to him.
"Gives a good sound, yes."
And I think to remember that he has said before that he occasionally sings in the shower.
Then I want to know if he is scared of airplanes (like I), if he enjoys to fly:
"Hell no. Scared of heights. I hate tall bridges."
We are already entering the matter, and I want to know on his sleeping habits.
"Lord, sometimes I can't sleep. I was up for 26 hours the other day".
We return to music. But when asking him of his favorites, he prefers not to mention names, but he says something that I know and I share:
"I like to listen to Bread, very good group. Easy listening. Percy Sledge had some good songs: "Take time to know her", "When a man loves a woman".
We are clearing the subject of the opera and I say to him that Elvis could sing any thing, even opera:
"I always wished I could. I can beller a few." But he lamented to forget the lyrics.. And he says something very funny but impossible to reproduce here.
"¿You don't like rap?"
"That is not even music."
"Do you like to dance? "
"I have always liked it but the Ritis Brothers don't, they don't like me dancing."
"You are a great dancer", I told him.
"But Ritis Brothers don't like for me too."
"Who are those Ritis Brothers? Excuse my ignorance, John."
"Arthur... jajajajajajaja"
"I need to check it, don't laugh at me, please, jajaja."
And then he sends a great outburst of laughter and says "arthuritis, arthritis. Get it? Chiste", he says in Spanish.

"Country music?", I want to know and I ask him:
"I would have to agree with Loretta, they all sound alike. If you don't see the video you never know who is singing."
"Garth Brooks?", I ask
"I seen him smash a guitar on stage, haven't liked him since."
"What about Celine Dion?
"Great voice."
Then I want to know if he sings now other songs:
"You know, I sing other artist songs. But I don't know the lyrics to a lot of them..." In the middle of all this, suddenly, I commented to him that I had a dream where he said to me that in school they called him Tiger. I want to know if it is truth, or if they called him Crazy:
"I was called Crazy later... cause I'm crazy", he said.
And I take advantage of asking him the color of his hair:
"Well, has plenty of gray..."
"Gray, beautiful color:, I say. "Don't you dye it?".
"Not anymore".
I return to music:
"If you had to choose a song which would it be?"
"Too hard to say. Gospels are my favorites".
"Have you been in a church in the last few years?"
"Its been a while. I watch on TV two teachers of the word of God: Joel Osteen and Brother Murray (from Gravettt, Ark.), very intelligent men."
What about the book of Joel Osteen, Live Better Life Now.?"

On the following day, we return to talk. I want to know more about his horses. I told him that I have had a dream with one of them, where I saw as it ate a piece of bread that John had offered me in his home. I know that the horse is brown.
He says to me that he has a horse called Blackie, another Buddy and the other one Stormy. I ask him if Buddy likes to play.
Yes -- I told him-- he ate my bread, jajaja. I saw very clear he was laughing, jajaja.
I can hear his clear, fresh laugh, like that of a boy, as he has always had.
"Which one is older?"
"Oh, Lord, Buddy is about ten, I believe."
"Do they live 20 years?"
"Some longer, he says. I had one in his thirties."
"What about your dogs, do they bite?"
"Yes. Me too... Rott...."
"I am afraid of them", I say.
"I had one attacked me once, grabbed my leg. Had him put to sleep. Damn things can get mean. I would have shot the bastard if I had my gun on me. Grabbed my damn leg and tried to break it. I knocked the hell out of him."
"Do you have only one now?."
"No, more than one, also a big German Sheppard." And as the subject of the animals fascinates me, we continued commenting on other species that he has had at home.
I believe that it has been a day when I return to him. He is patient, and generous with my curiosity. He lets me ask him, and I try not to fall in the subject of Elvis. I am respectful of his silence, I am not going to transgress the drawn up norms. John Smith, for many enigmatic John Smith --for me already, the friend, the great singer who "hides" after his silence and his contagious laugh, so similar to the one of Elvis--, is without a doubt, an incredible human being.
It has been a gift of God to let me listen to John Smith singing live those gospels, but also, to know its relation with Our Lord, to feel that perhaps one of the missions of which is in favor in this earth it is to bring the divine inspiration of God to us through his voice. For that reason I ask how he prays:
"Through Jesus, the son", he says.
"Have you heard him sometimes talking to you?"
"I think we all have. That is a question that folks can rip u a part on."
"What do you think about spirituality?."
"With out the spirit we are no longer."
"Do you read now spiritual books? I mean any kind of book about spirituality and God, Jesus, etc.?"
"I still read a lot. Not going to call any titles. My eyes are not as good as they once were. U know, it hurts my eyes to read a lot."
"Do you read the Bible frequently?"
"Yes, I try too."
It was very late at night when he leaves me with his TCB and his Adios. Days back he had been in my PalTalk room (Presley Family and Friends 1) and sang several songs, among them some of those extraordinary gospels. Still his voice resonates in my soul, still I believe to feel just like when God announced through David: "Today you must listen to his voice. Don't harden your hearts against him ".

@ Belkis Cuza Malé, 2006
Translated with the assistance of Tonda Shaver

Is John Smith Elvis?

Elvis:

Three Drawings and the Signature of John Smith

By Belkis Cuza-Male'

In his book If I can Dream. Elvis' Own Story, Larry Geller, hairstylist of Elvis Presley and student of the metaphysic and the spiritual things, says that the singer got the idea for its famous jumpsuits from the drawings of David Anrias, specially in the related thing to the high necks, that were their trade mark.

In order to understand Elvis -- not the singer, but the man -- it is necessary to observe his vision of the world and the things that accompanied him and of that towards surrounding. Few people have like him that multiple and complex way to create surroundings and to recreate themselves. In many of texts written by its collaborators and near friends we found that Elvis put extreme attention in the design of the things, this included from clothes that he would wear, its jewels, its watches, its lenses, until the very own Graceland. The world to him must be the reflection of its glance, and therefore had to give back its image to him like a double mirror. Someone told me a few days ago, by chance, that in Elvis there is always a double image: from the same fact of being a twin, to those "identities" that are attributed to him, as in the case of Orion, the double Larry Blong, and both Jon Burrows to whom I have refereed before and that appear in my book. Although in fact, there is no way to conceive the existence of another Elvis, because he has been and is the only one.

However, Elvis' detailed observation for design has always caught my attention. We see it from the beginning in everything that he wears. That necessity to break with stereotype, to create a new image, to recreate himself -- and at the same time revolutionize it all -- lead him to change the color of his hair and to adopt new look: a mixture of Rudolf Valentino, with Tony Curtis, a new way of the "Latin lover." And to complete the image, it goes and purchases clothes that were very well used by the black musicians of the South, not the one used by a white man. But in everything, his style is one of his own. Nothing that looks like anybody. From the sideburns, the black hair (and it is necessary to have very good face to take that color), jumpsuits, the high necks, the trousers of bell (in the style of the Russian marines from the Baltic circa 1917), the wide belts with great clasps, the rings (that enormous one with the TCB), the chains with the ray and famous motto, in short, everything is his own style, impossible to imitate. And the own Graceland was the reflection of its imagination: from its dormitory, to the great living room, passing through those mirrors that cover the ceiling of the den, there in the basement. It is not that he conceived everything, but the idea was his, and in this way, I have understood that he asked the designers for it. And with those elements they had to work, for example, the one to accommodate four TV sets in that stay, and that in the end was graceful and practical. Or in the case of the "jungle room," with furniture bought directly by Elvis, selected in half an hour. It denotes that all that already was in his head, like the little boy that knows exactly what toys he wants.

A virtuous himself, a perfectionist of his image and its soul, is possible to ask, what inspired him to be how he was? Without a doubt, the dowries that God granted to him to accomplish a mission with which he was sent to this earthly plane. Which one was this? The one to entertain or the one to reproduce the sounds of the soul? Both, I would say. Plus to show to us how human and vulnerable we can be. In Elvis, the search of God is a constant, and a different celebrity, that astonishes with its knowledge of the Bible and all the spiritual things.

Jane and Michael Stern, specialists in popular culture, wrote in 1978 a very useful book, Elvis Word. There I found this drawing of jumpsuit of Elvis, that Matty Lacker sold years later to Jimmy Velvet. Look at this design. Without doubts that it is work of Elvis, with the handwriting and the style that accompany it.
Around the 2003, a friend sent me, very privity, three drawings made by John Smith. It had to do with drawings done on the computer, while the singer talked with this person. Although I had not gotten in touch with him until then, I kept informed on his online life, and speculated with my friend around its true identity. The friendship came from a fans club that soon undid, so that when John Smith made his appearance in Yahoo chat rooms, I never stopped paying attention -- although not without certain skepticism --, to everything what they told me about him. Until for the first time I heard him. And soon, until a day I saw those extraordinary drawings. Then I no longer had doubts.

I couldnt believe it. Not only were they the drawings but there was also that "Elvis Presley" written by John Smith and that "Ha Ha Ha" and the "Meow". " What doubts could I possibly have that that was the real Elvis Presley, drawing with the pencil of the computer? There was that extraordinary self-portrait, and that other Elvis, that very well worth the qualifying of extraordinary, not only because of who you are dealing with, but because they are works of art. Believe me, that is good art. So that I can tell for sure that there is artistic greatness in these outlines, facts to the flight, with no intentions of anything. Just playing. But no, they are not infantile, but ludic, extraordinary drawings, reflected of the glance of a wonderful artistic sensitivity. Again, Elvis seems to look at himself.
If we compared these drawings with which it appears in the book of the Stern, we will see without a doubt outlines, the same style such. You judge.

But even, if that point of comparison did not exist, that signature and the other handwritings demonstrate what I have been saying, that John Smith is without a doubt Elvis. No, I am not a handwriting expert, but during years I have studied it, his signature, and there are all the characteristics, all the details of the Elvis handwriting.
I hope that the posting of these drawings, with their signature, helps to clarify the true identity of John Smith. This, together with his extraordinary voice, confirms -- I repeat -- my thesis: John Smith is Elvis. This blog is a tribute to, its person, his great talent.

May God protect him and bless him always!

Elvis, drawing by John Smith with his signature, 2003

<img style="CLEAR: all; He is a young John, singing in a celebration of Halloween, according to what somebody had told me. One can also imagine a young Elvis, but there is no way to know it. Others assure that this is not he, but a computerized photo, a joke.

Around two years ago, somebody sent this other photo to me assuring that it could be John Smith. In the photo, he appears as a mature and slim man, with gray hair and almost white beard, singing between friends.

Yes, this man resembles Elvis in many ways: the face, hands, fingers, hair, the jacket with the high neck. When I showed it then to a friend, almost an Elvis' expert, they were surprised and then repeated that it had to be Elvis. Good, this man, that was singing to friends, also resembled very much John to me.

Months ago, while I was talking with John, he commented to me that years back he had fractured a leg. I did not want to investigate the details, nor how nor when the accident happened, but, just as I do with all he says to me, I deposited the data in my "mental file".
Perhaps it was not the chance -- that it does not exist for me -- the one that I take yesterday to find in my papers on Elvis, a tabloid, Weekly World News (July 28, 1992), one of those scandalous one of supermarkets, where it had in the cover a photo of a supposed Elvis, with the leg in a cast, leaning by the back door of a hospital in Nashville, on July of 1992.
The photograph showed a man who could resemble very much an Elvis in his fifties. The dark lenses, nevertheless, avoided to watch his eyes, but the hair and the appearance could very well have been those of the King of Rock and roll.
As all the published articles by the media around the subject, there is not a way to verify anything. That type of sensationalist tabloid goes through life inventing articles to increase its sales. But I am thinking of that photo of the man with the fractured leg, and the image that I know of John Smith.
And sure its appearance between my papers made me remember immediately that detail over the fractured leg that he himself commented to me a year ago. Without a doubt, this could be John Smith. And also Elvis? I leave it to the imagination of you, dear friends.

Is John Smith Elvis ?

By: Belkis Cuza-Malé

Fern writes, quickly, as not to lose the impulse: "You are Elvis! You do not deceive me, I have a very good ear and you are Elvis". Fern is new in the music room "Presley Family and Friends1"-- one of so many rooms that exist in Pal Talk honoring the singer --; we are few, those that were there at dawn while John Smith finishes singing one of Elvis' songs. The voice that we hear, is the voice of the King of Rock and Roll, slightly horned with the years, but the same quality of voice, the same tone, the same masters.

It was the first time that Fern (an ETA -- Elvis Tribute Artist -- of Canada) heard the singing of John Smith, but he does not seem to be astonished of anything, and, indifferent, John Smith speaks into the microphone and soon he returns to sing. Although the mysterious personage appears and disappears in Pal Talk, here in "Presley Family and Friends1" his visit is always reason for fright and rejoicing. The majority of people in PalTalk have heard him sing, but nobody has ever seen his face, no matter what some in the "halls" of Pal Talk repeat. The reality is that John Smith is a mystery, somebody that would make the delights of a Conan Doyle, the famous author of Sherlock Holmes, also turned in paranormal subjects.

For months, a photo of a young John Smith was in his Pal Talk profile accompanied by two lines of description. Some, nevertheless, suspected that the photo was not John, but a computerized photo or something of the sort. Anything is valid, if it is what is wanted to maintain the true identity of a man hidden. A man of whom all aim to find, like the true Elvis Presley. The confusion is valid, I think, which there has been reason. I have heard him sing for hours and hours and for months I have heard his voice in the microphone, and even seen the palm of his hands on camera and appreciated the famous "star" on his palm, that is mentioned in the book by Becky Yancey, Elvis' secretary.

There are several good impersonators of the King of Rock and Roll, but at the time of truth, it is impossible not to notice the difference. With echo, without echo, with music, or acapella, whistling or with those guttural sounds that an early Elvis Presley dominated with masters in "Blue Moon", John Smith is the unique one who makes possible, the belief in the survival after "the death."

Although the subject around Elvis inventing his own death would seem declining already, or unreal, and until reason for irreverent, the doubts have not stopped since the 16th of August 1977, the day the world received the news of his physical disappearance. And those that have followed him is a sign that these rumors speak of all types of things, believed or not, but in truly suspicious short whiles. To affirm that Elvis Presley died that day is almost one truth by halves. The thorough students of the real personality of Elvis know that it was a unique type. I would say more, that he was the most imaginative man, in control of his reality, that I have known.

Details did not escape him: the Bible was known like the back of his hand, but he also read more important esoteric and Metaphysical Literature, and the Merck medical Manual. And his musical talents, his incredible voice, his genius, were on par with the very way he would interpret the life. For him, nothing seemed impossible, almost to the stubborn end. And I, who have interviewed his closest people, and have talked with some of them, know what it meant to be a friend of Elvis, of a nature like his, able to go one day and buy all the dogs of a pet store, only because, after giving several to Lisa and her friends, the others did not feel left out. What sense would a man like him have to fake his own death?

Every year by this date, his admirers -- who grow by the thousand every day -- make their annual pilgrimage to Memphis, to visit Graceland and the unquiet grave that remains empty, in my opinion, in the Meditation Garden. John Smith said to me, that he has not entered Graceland in many years, but the last time he was there, he just walked in and I laugh to myself and I ask him if he was like a ghost.

Good, he does not like the questions, but at times, he has said to me other things, such as his preference for the equipment of football in Tennessee, his love for fast cars, but their sure fidelity, to thoseCadillacss -- black, or target bone --, and its obstinacy with returning to ski in the water. He says that one does not resist to not being able.

Where does he live?Whatt does he do? How does John Smith pass his days? Good, most of the time, it seems to be in Texas, although it enchants Florida to him, and he travels to different sites. "I have sung to the entire world online", he says, spacing his answers. I know that he also rides his horses, across the farms of Texas, where he hides, but his passion is to sing, to sing without rest, until hurting the throat. After many years already in Texas, it is not strange to me that now he uses jeans and exquisite and expensive cowboy boots. That yes, always with that outlandish style, one where the rhinestones and certain details cannot need, and now they turn around the belts of a cowboy and the great and beautiful clasps.

Do you, my readers, want me to say how I imagine John Smith? Good, because with his white straw hat, like an orderly mess, leaving only in the open those intense blue eyes, and grayish beard, after which it disguises the true oval of his face, now tanned by the years. So that we do not recognize him, clear. Surely, he drives across his farm, in that almost black pickup truck, that not only runs, but flies.

Yes, again, this August 16th, the fans of Elvis will render tribute to their idol. Perhaps I, however, will again have the privilege of hearing the music of John Smith, really Elvis Presley?

BelkisBell@Aol.com
Belkis Cuza-Malé, Cuban-American poet, writer and journalist, is the author of Elvis, The Unquiet Grave or the True Story of Jon Burrows (LLP, 1994.) She lives in Texas, where she found and is the director of La Casa Azul, and Linden Lane Magazine, founded in 1882 with his late husband, the famous Cuban poet, Heberto Padilla.
